  1. Hi!

I´m using DVD2SVCD to rip and convert a DVD to a SVCD, but all I get is two .mpv-files! Why?!? The first time I used DVD2SVCD i got a .mpg-file that I could burn directly with Nero, but now I´m geeting this .mpv-file instead. I´ve tried both CCE and TMPGEnc but I get the same result! WHY?!?

In DVD2SVCD I have the following settings:

-Conversion: Use Frame Selection, No deInterlacing(Idon´t even know what that is?...)
    -CD Image: Use EntrySVD
    -Frameserver: Biocubic, Resize to SVCD
    -Bitrate: Min 300, Min. Avg 1600, Max.avg 2230

Has it something to do with these settings?
    Please help!

    Best regards!

  4. Hi!

NO, it doesn´t crash, and I´ve selected the right audiotrack. It encodes the audio to a mpegfile!!

  5. Post your log entries by Cutting and Pasting the contents from the "LOG" tab in DVD2SVCD after this has happened.

This info. would be very useful in trying to figure out what is going on.

Have you tried using the program with the original defaults? It works just fine that way. Check only internal ripping and adjust the bitrate to the size of your CD's (700 or 800), and let it run. It will make 2 CUE/BIN files that Nero can burn as images. Not sure about the 'frame select' or the 'entry SVD'. Never used them in 100+ sucessful encodes. Post your log, though.

  7. Here is the logfile:

I´ve been looking over and over it again and again, but I can´t find the problem!!!

I would be so lucky if anyone could fix this for me!
b.t.w, thank you all for giving great and helpful answers!

    Could you go look for
    C:\Documents and Settings\Mina dokument\Mina Filmer\test123\bbMPEG_Muxed_File00.mpg

and see if it's there ?

My fiirst thought is some program doesn't like filenames with spaces.
It was a very stupid microsoft decision to allow that IMO
    Quote Quote
  9. Yes, I looked, but all that´s there is that .mpv-file... I can´t see what the problem is, I´ve set TMPG to "system" (both audio and video) as well...

    Well you have me confused.
If you use DVD2SVCD it does it all, you don't screw with TMPGenc
If you don't , the log is bogus.
Where are all the files mentioned in that log.?
    Quote Quote
  11. The files are in the above mentioned folder(s) (I´m not quite shure what files you mean?). Yes, I´m using DVD2SVCD and I as well thought it would do the whole progress for me. Can it have something to to with the bbmpeg settings? The interesting thing is why the programs doesn´t make a mpg-file, but stops at a mpv-file... It SHOULD make a .mpg-file since I´m making a SVCD - right?!

It is outputting an mpg but its apparantly deleting it after creating the cd image. There is an option to keep all intermediate files so enable that if you want the mpg. Otherwise, just burn the cd image. That is how DVD2SVCD is intended to be used.
    Quote Quote
  14. As above ...

In DVD2SVCD / MISC tab make sure the "Don't Delete Any Files" option is checked.
    Quote Quote
  15. Aha...
So what´s the difference; burning bin/cue files, image files or mpeg files?... Is there any difference in quality, sync with aduio etc.? I´m pretty new to this, as you see... Which way is the best to go?
Thanks to all of you for your answers, b.t.w.!
    Quote Quote
  16. AFAIK, there shouldn't be any difference in quality, sync etc.. if you burn the images DVD2SVCD produces, or if you author the MPEG's it produces properly (e.g. with VCDEasy).

I'd strongly recommend using the bin/cue images it produces though - otherwise you won't benefit from many of the steps DVD2SVCD has done for you; pretty much the entire authoring process, including adding chapters, PBC etc...

Nero can burn the bin/cue images (just close the wizard, and click File->Burn Image), as can most other burning apps.

You can also use Daemon Tools to mount the images to check they're okay before burning (or use a CD-RW).

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

  17. Thanks!!!
Now it feels better even though I don´t have any mpg-files!

Is there any good guide how to burn cue/bin-files with Nero (Where to put WHAT file WHERE and so on)? I´m kind of new to this, as you you problably understand...

Thanks again to all of you for nice and helpful answers!

    Best regards

  18. If Nero --

    1. Load Nero
    2. Close Wizard
    3. Click on FILE (top left corner)
    4. Select BURN IMAGE
    5. Browse to where the BIN/CUE file is located
    6. Select the CUE file
    7. Click on WRITE

    If Nero Express --

    1. Load Nero Express
    2. Select DISC IMAGE OR SAVED PROJECT
    3. Change FILE TYPE to IMAGE FILES (*.NRG, *.ISO,*.CUE)
    4. Browse to where the BIN/CUE file is located.
    5. Select the CUE file
    6. Click on NEXT

That's it for Nero !! The BIN/CUE files are already authored and are actually IMAGES. All you need to do is burn them to CD.
    Quote Quote
  19. Is that it?! What about chapters, audio etc.?
    Quote Quote
  20. DVD2SVCD has already done all of the chapters etc.. for you.

The images are ready-to-burn SVCD's already.

I suggest you go and look at the guide to setting up DVD2SVCD over at Doom9. It will explain what all the different settings are - including everything on the CD Image tab, which covers chapters etc..

    cheers,
    mcdruid.
    Quote Quote
  21. OK! I´ll try burning the bin/cue files and see what happens!

Thank you all, and take care!
