    If anybody could help i would appreciate it. When i start a conversion the first 10 secs of the avi converts ok then the picture freezes i have waited and done a full conversion and it plays back 10 secs of the film but the audio is fine it plays back the full audio no matter what avi i try to use. I use cucusoft & TMPG both freeze in the same position, i have AC3 & K-lite codec packs installed. Win XP. The avis play fine in WMP and DIVX player

    Sounds like you have bad frames.
    Run the avi through VirtualDub.
