My ps2 will play my +r movie-only backups, but refuses to play the entire disc backups with menus and all. Also, it won't play +rw's at all.

As mentioned in numerous posts, PS2's are NOT the ideal machine for testing your burning prowess. They are picky about what they'll play. Tho they will play some DVD's, they were designed to be a gaming machine. So it's not a good idea to utilize it as your main DVD player.

If u plan to pursue the hobby of backing up DVD's....I strongly suggest investing $70 or $80 bux in a standalone DVD player. Don't buy a costly player, becuz from what I've read, it seems that the lower dollar players that play VCD's, DVD's, mp3's etc do better compatability-wise than the expensive ones.
