Is there a DVD player made with a built in PAL/NTSC (and vise versa) converter. I have an Aiwa VCR that can convert....how about a DVD player? Anyone know of one?

Just curious, why would you want/need this. You can obviously play PAL titles without any problems. Almost any European DVD player will play NTSC titles (I have never heard of one that won't anyway) it is then a matter of your TV. Most european TV's handle PAL-60 and/or NTSC signals even if the fact is not advertised on the box.

I've tried converting with the guides here (via computer)....I SUCK at it... They don't need to be perfection...just for some friends of mine in various countries throughout the world. Right now I need to convert a few NTSC discs I made back home in the U.S. for some friends in Oz.

  10. Almost all cheap European DVD players will standards convert from PAL to NTSC and back (hence the posting above) it's just American models that can't. Just avoid anything from Japan, as they tend to disable most of the "extra" features on export models.

Hmmm, no they won't. Almost all cheap European DVD players, when given an NTSC source, will output either NTSC or PAL-60. (Some will allow you to select which one). Many European TV's will handle Pal-60 or NTSC with no problems. Very few players that I have come accross (big name brands or otherwise) will convert NTSC to true PAL internally.

But you should find your friends in Oz own DVD players that will playback NTSC discs. Most do.

I have the opposite problem PAL discs that I want to send to people in the US with NTSC systems. They can play them on their PCs, but not on their home DVD players. I'm looking for a list of machines with PAL quasi NTSC playback.

seems to be a list? Interestingly AIWA is in that list (like your VCR) Anyone know of others?
