I have only tried the movie in file mode only but with decryptor, shrink, and smartripper. Can't seem to unlock the damn thing.
Just discovered there is new firmware available for my drive....DO YOU THINK THAT MAY HELP?
This isn't the first time I have run into not being able to rip a movie.

With DVD Decrypter minimized......open the DVD with a viewer like yer gonna watch the movie. After it plays for a few seconds, you should be able to rip it. Opeing it in a viewer unlocks it.

Pardon me for being silly but why do you need to 'unlock' the disc?
I have never had this problem ever - I just put it into the drive and fire up DVDDecrypter.
I've seen lots of people mentioning this but whats it all about? -
Dd it with DVD shrink with NO problem.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
Jukka....I've never had that problem either, but I've seen several posts by people who have had it happen. Some drives, software and windows setups behave oddly on occasion, requiring the user to *unlock* the DVD before it'll rip.

I had the same problem---couldn't get it on the hard drive, couldn't use deep analysis on Shrink. I finally switched from my dvd rom drive to the dvdr drive and DVDDecrypter worked first time. Don't know what was going on with the other drive.

sounds pretty familiar. the same thing happend to me lately; i tried to rip a DVD in me DVD-Rom with DVDShrink, DVD Decrypter and SmartRipper, none worked
then I switched the disc to my (badly reading) NEC 1300 and it worked perfectly....
I have no idea what happend there (might be a Microsoft conspiracy)
