    I tried downloading the DVD samples from http://www.svcd2dvdmpg.com/SVCD2DVDMPG/Samples.aspx, but none seems to be available? (404) What gives?

    Not from my point of view!?! No matter which sample I try, the link provided just generates a 404.
    http://www.svcd2dvd.com/samples/PAL.zip is one example.
