  1. For those Canadians out there who may be interested - I have tracked down a store in Manitoba which sells Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's. It's called "mlhsystems" and is based in Winnepeg. It provides on both line ordering, and mail order.

To date a 50 spindle ( 4X, silver, no logo - was the info provided) goes for $134.95 CND.

    Here's the link:

I'm planning to order via "mail order" (I'm a bit uncomfortable with on line until I know the store better) as soon as the doors open.

If anyone has had dealings with this store please post. Such info is nice to know.

    Thanks

    Gadfly

PS - also if there is any other info I should know - things to watch for - special 'spec's' I should be taking into consideration - please let me know - as this distinction between various DVD's is all very new to me.

Blankmedia.ca has Taiyo Yuden even cheaper than mlhsystems. I have good experience with buying from blankmedia on line. Reliable, fast delivery.

I have dealt with the people from mlh for some time now.
A really nice and friendly group.
One of the problems is that they don't update the pricing on their
website as often as I think they should.
I would suggest you phone and confirm final pricing.
I saw the taiyo disks on their site a while back, but after taxes they
come out at three bucks a piece. I would rather burn at 2x and pay
    less for the media.
    But that is just me.
I bought a 50 spindle of princo 4x from them a while back.
8 out of 13 failures right off the batt.
Most outfits here in Winnipeg will tell you once you open the seal
the disks are yours. MLH offered to take back the unused disks and
charged me the single disk price for the 13 that I had used.
I felt that was fair and continue to use their products and services.
    Hope this helps you some.

  5. Thanks VERY much for your replies. As I'm new to this - and haven't learned the ropes about shopping around - let alone the places that I should be looking - the feedback is a great help.

Definately I am going to check out mlh - as it sounds like a company worth supporting - but the info about Staples is also worth checking into. The last time I was at Staples I didn't know to check out labels for 'made in Japan' - so next visit I will do so.

    Again - thanks all

PS - hello to all Canadian members
