  1. I bought some dvd-rs & while they are great for data back-up, I've found that I cannot record a dvd movie on it.
What should I be looking for when I buy dvd-r's to determine that they are compatible for making movies?

  3. Data is data only the format determines how you play it back/retreive it. So if you can burn DVD-ROM discs you can burn DVD Video discs. What exactly is the problem and/or why do you think you can't burn DVD video discs?

Did you correctly author a DVD and burn the VIDEO_TS folder? Or just drag/drop a MPEG file to a DVDR

  4. This is actually my boyfriend's problem. He's using Easy CD 6, for cd & dvd burning, which came with his burner. I forget which burner he bought.
When he got his burner, he bought some jvc dvd-r's & then I went looking for a better deal online.
The jvc's worked great & he was able to make movies.
However, when he tried to do so with the ones I got online, he said that he wasn't able to.
Now, I went & just looked for the ones I got online, they were 100Pack DvdPro (Grade A) 102-009-100, 4.7GB DVD-R Media for General.
When I looked at the write-up on them, it says the following:
DVD-R 4.7GB Media is suitable for all mass data storage need.
Memory-capacity of 4.7 GB 1X speed general use blank media.
Suitable for DVD Video & Data backup
    Commercial and Home DVD-Video production
    Large sized data archive storage
Now, I don't know if something has changed with them & this isn't actually the ones I got, but from the info above, it looks like he should be able to burn movies on them. What could the problem with it be do you think?
While I have a dvd burner also, I haven't ventured into the whole movie burning thing, but have just been using them for storage.
I do know that he was able to do it with the jvc, but not with the ones I got him, but having not done it myself, I don't know exactly how he was doing it.
