I've recently taken a liking to performing IVTC on my material with the telecide() and decimate() function in avisynth. I've read a lot of lordsmurfs excellent guides and I read that leaving the material interlaced will look better on a TV set. My question is how to IVTC and keep interlaced at the same time. IVTC will deinterlace naturally correct?

It will be interlaced on your TV no matter what you do. Don't bother.
IVTC produces progressive video which encodes better.
