I am having a problem with the audio going out of sync whenever I cut or join MPEG files with TMPGE. I am running XP. They are MPEG 1 files. Video Stream: Motion Video, 352x240, 29.97003fps (NTSC), 1150kbps
Audio Stream: Audio Standard MPEG layer2 Stereo, 44100Hz, 224kbps
I captured a movie from my vcr with Winfast PVR. Since I captured it in VCD format it automatically cut it into 650 mb pieces. Now whenever I try to joint to two files my audio goes out of sync. It does the same thing with another movie captured from tv that I am trying to cut the commercials out of of. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated as I am very new to all of this. Thanks! Joe

TMPGEnc only claims to properly cut/join mpegs created with TMPGEnc. My experience with non TMPGEnc mpegs is the same as yours - sync problems.

I did use Tmpgencoder ... but now I use InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2.

    And for cutting/editing ... I use Womble mpeg-vcr ... very very precise cutting and fast. Doesn't re-encode.

And if it is something fancy like blending two videos together ... slightly overlaping to see one video fade out as other video fades in ... Vegas Video 4 ... does that nicely. Vegas Video does re-encode ... I use Vegas when making fancy preview scenes in my menus.

After I'm through creating my files and I'm ready to make the DVD ... I use TMPGEnc DVD Author.

And I use DVDShrink ... because TMPGEnc DVD Author usually makes a DVD project ... a little too big. Those motion menus and thumbnails add up.

Thanks guys. To avoid having to download another program I think I will try running them through TMPGe before I attempt to cut or join them. Maybe then TMPGe will cut/join them without sync problems. I'll post the results. Joe
