  1. After encoding, demuxing, and muxing, watched the video closely. I saw the people on it looked like a Kung-fu movie. The voice was out of sync with the video.

I went back to the original capture and it was out of sync there. So, it is not the encoding, etc., but the original capture.

I am using the Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe and capturing at a bitrate of 9 (720x480; I think) on USB 2.0. I am not really sure what to ask, but does anyone have any ideas where to start on something like this?

Or is there a way to move the sound stream back into sync with the video?

    Thanks.

What is a DV Bridge and would this help instead of keeping the PCTV Deluxe; in other words, getting rid of the PCTV altogether. I am capturing from an analog 8-mm camcorder.

The hardware you have is crap i.e. the PCTV thing.

If you want (mostly) error free analog A/V capture with rock steady audio sync then consider getting the Canopus ADVC-100

It is a bit steep in price (around $250 to $300 US dollars) but it is easy to use and works VERY well especially in terms of keeping the audio in sync which is the biggest challenge for most analog capture cards/devices.

You should be able to set the sync delay in your muxing program, try that.If it goes gradually out of sync then you might be able to time stretch or shrink the audio with an editor as long as its an even loss of sync.

My experience has shown that if the original capture is out-of-sync then GOOD LUCK trying to fix it.

In other words it can be a real BITCH trying to fix it and get it "just" right.

If it's not a progressive synching problem and the whole thing is out of whack try re-encoding the audio with something like TMPGEnc and Avisynth and just offset it with a delay.

you dont need to re-encode anything, just run the mpv and mp2/ac3 thru your muxing program with the delay function set to either + or - the seconds.the easiest way i find to get the approx sync time is to watch the lips or listen to the voice and see how long each is away from each other in a set scene that`s easy to follow.

  8. I am using TMPGEnc, but I cannot find the audio delay as described. Does it have another name than delay? I found many options under the Setting > Audio tab, but no delay, just bitrate and so on. Is it the bitrate?

I use bbmeg to mux my files that are out of sync,it has a delay feature that tmpgenc doesnt have.
