  1. hey guys, i got a dvd burner and tried it out and wound up with 3 lovely coasters so far. im using nero, and i tried with and without joliet, as dvd-video and as dvd uhf, and as dvd-r and dvd+r, and really nothing works. my pc surpasses the system reqs so no prob there.

heres the issue. i burn it, it verifies, says everythings okay. so i go to play it in my dvd rom and its fine...until it gets to be about halfway done. its able to play all the chapters until it gets near the middle, then it cant play the chapters anymore and tells me to check for scratched on disc. all 3 are like this, and i tried to burn 2 different shows so its not just 1. any1 know wat could be causing this or how to fix it? thanks so much

What brand of media are you using? Often problems like this are caused by using inferior media, or media that is incompatible with your DVD burner.

I had very similar problems recording with Nero 6 and trying to play back with Power DVD XP. I would be able to play a certain amount of a disk before i got an error message along the lines of corrupt/scratched disk. Problem went away when i played the disk using Win DVD.

I've since returned to using Nero 5.5 and now have no problems with play back on PowerDVD or WinDVD

    Hope this is of help
