  1. Really? I looked at Centon 256MB PC133 RAM at the BX today. It clearly stated on the box that it would not work in a PC100 system. It also mentioned something about being for 733MHZ and up processors. Anyone know anything about this? It is $45 (about $25 cheaper than the other brand 256MB).

  2. although the memory wont run @ 133 on a 100 mobo, it still might work. then again, it may not work. it depends on if the ram will operate at 100. in my piece of shit computer, i've got one stick that is 256mb @ 133 & a 128mb stick @ 100.. i had another 256mb that ran @ 133, but wouldnt work.

if the place you've buying it from has a half assed return policy then i'd say try the 133, if not stick with 100.

  3. The memory should work. I live with three computer scientists (more fun than they sound) and they told me that even PC3200 RAM would work with a PC100 slot. All the RAM does is sort of throttle down to the right speed and away you go.

I think I am running PC133 in a PC100 computer at home. If you want, I'll check for you.

... DDR ram uses a differnt pin setup and therefore will never fit in the slot.

Also most PC133 should work at PC100 but if its like some odd ball memory with an odd chip setup or something it might now. But in general PC133 does fine at 100.

  5. Oops!

    You're right - PC3200 WON'T work!

These guys were recovering from a Friday night, and were just saying "Yeah....." to everything. Sorry!

Ya this pretty much sucks. I had to spend $120 for 512 mb of pc100. It is so old and obsolete that it is very expensive. I specifically read that some pc133 ram will not work in pc100 bus. Why? I have no idea.
