is ther away to do this, coz when i try to use tmpgenc for it, it says its an illegal mpeg stream

Well, to demux an AVI in TMPGEnc, you use the main program screen, which can take awhile.
A better solution is Virtual Dub mod. Load your video, select File-->Save Wav...
Then go to TMPGEnc MPEG Tools and demux the video from the original video.Hello. -
ummm. what is it your exactly trying to do? if you want to strip out the audio use virtualdub to save audio as wav file.

im trying to join two avi's but vdub says that the audio does not match, and will not join them for me, so the plan was to separate the video and audio in both files then join the video, the re-sample the audio then join that then re-mux

Just use Virtualdub. Under Video select direct stream copy and under Audio select No Audio. Do this seperately to each of your AVI's. Then try merging them by opening up the first AVI and select Append To AVI. You'll have to use another program to merge your two wav files though.
