  1. Alright, I am new to all things DVD and am getting really frustrated with DVD Shrink.

I can open a disk already burned and edit it just fine. However, when I try to take it from the VIDEO_TS folder on my HD before burnng it I get an error: "Cannot decrypt VOBS Reason: unknown"

    What is going on?

I ddon't understand, if you already have the VOBs on your hard drive, why are you using DVD Shrink?

I guess you did not use DVDshrink to decrypt the movie to your HDD. You can try to decrypt the original DVD to your hard drive and compare how many files are missing. Usually, the *.bup file type files are missing.
DVDshrink will not recognise movies without them.

  4. Iim getting the same message when trying to "shrink" some DVDs made by myself (with DVD architect, and files already on the HD). But, then I found the solution: DVD shrink 2.3 (not the beta new one) can handle my DVD files and compress them without a problem !!!!... maybe this should be reported as a bug for the new beta one (because are exactly the same files and just the previous version can handle them)

My solution is the same as EOrozco's. But I found that if you open the files in version 2.3 and do a backup then you can open the new files with the beta.

  6. Alright now I am really confused...

Here is my method and plase tell me where I am going wrong. I am capturing my video with an ATI 9700 series AIW card. From there I use TMPGenc to make the menu etc and then export it to a vob file on my HD (maybe this is where it is going wrong). But the file is simply too big and I want to compress certain chapters so I want to open them in the DVD Shrink but get the error.

What is the method or process I should be using?

I got a work around for that dvdshrink error, what i do is get tmpgenc dvd author to open its record utility and load in the video_ts and audio_ts folders and make an iso file, then i mount the iso file with alcohol 120%,should work with daemon tools also, then i get dvdshrink to navigate to the virtual drive and rip and shrink from there,it works great.

  8. So are you saying it is a problem with DVDShrink and not my method?

I'm a little confused...where exactly will alcohol 120% mount the iso file? IT appears it is a burning software...so where am I burning the 2 folders to as it can't be to a dvd+r.

What alcohol does is install a virtual dvd/cd drive which you can access in my computer, you might have to go into alcohol settings to allow a virtual drive, with the vitual dvd/cd just right click on it and choose mount image and browse to the iso file and open it ,you now have a dvd to play or copy or rip with that virtual drive.

  13. Unfortunately I don't have the burning machine in front of me...but I just downloaded the software from their site 1 week ago--so barring any VERY recent releases I am using the most recent version.

I had the same problem and like EOrozco I found an older version of DVDShrink (2.3) and that worked for me.

Alright, maybe it's too late for me but I don't see a link to download 2.3 anywhere on that page.
