  1. Got this DVDRW the other day and got some Datawrite DVD-R media today, after trying many programs they all fail to recognise the media and claim none is in the drive, i have the latest nero (6 ultra) but that wont detect the media either.

anyone heard of this happening before with this drive?

what media would people recommend to definately work?

do i need a firmware update maybe?

    cheers

  2. I have the NEC 1300 multiformat drive and had similar problems, it is a media problem make sure whatever media you buy has the Ritek GO4 dye easy to tell by the deep purple colour of the disc surface. Zero Defex Xtreme Purple is a good disc to use. I am sure there are other dyes that work but the GO4 is the best in my opinion.

    Wrong !!

You can't tell a disc by the colour alone, you need to read the media ID with a tool like DVD Info Pro. DVD players (and CD players, for that matter) "see" at a very specific wavelength unlike your eye which is receptive to a wide spectrum of light.

A DVD player can NOT see, nor does it care, what colour a disc is. All it worries about is whether or not it can read the data off of it, and that has more to do with the reflectivity of the disc at that specific wavelength.

If you buy based on the colour alone, it is not just the disc that gets burnt - your fingers will too and sooner or later you will be very disappointed.

I too, have a NEC ND-1100A and I'm having problems writing to DVD Media. I can write to a DVD+RW but it WILL NOT write to a DVD+R. Dose anyone have any idea of what type of media to use? TDK, Sony, What? What works best with Drive? Please, Help.

Just to let everyone know. I downloaded a firmware file and I tryed Verbatim DVD+R 1x-4x media and it works fine now. Just though I would let everyone konw so if you have the same problem you might not have to go throught what I did to get it to work.

    Thanks everyone.
