  1. Here is a simple problem.

I have a +RW disk that was corrupted during recording by my Philips DVD recorder. (There was a fault in the unit and it had to go back fopr repair). The disk is unreadable on both the DVD player and the computer: if I try to get software to read the disk the programs just hang.

Is there any way that I can try to repair or reformat the disk for re-use? (Easy Cd has various tools and formatting facilities for CDs, but not, it seems, for DVDs). Or is it just not worth the bother?

  2. If you're going to be doing any recording with DVDR media ditch that Easy CD creator. Either get RecordNow Max or Nero to do your DVD burning and both will erase the DVD-RW disc.

  3. I've had two DVD+RWs with the lead-in screwed up.
The drive was just spinning or blinking.
No drive and program could recognize them!

DVD Decrypter, right click on "source drive" (burner)--> full erase helped.

  4. Thanks for the helpful advice.

I have downloaded and tried DVD Decrypter. This complained about the disk and, after a few false starts, went through a 45 minute format and reported that it it had completed the task succesfully. Unfortunately the disk is still unreadable, so it looks as if I will have to settle with this one as a coaster.

I will look into Nero for future reference.
