    Hi

I have a Lite-on dvdrw ldw-811s and I am having problems when burning dvd-r's using nero - I am using shrink first and then using nero 6.0.0.15 to burn the dvds onto blank discrite dvd-r's. These seem to work when played in the dvd recorder but don't work in either my dvd player on the pc or either of the two standalone dvd players in my house. When using dvd decrypter to write dvds that will fit onto a 4.7 dvd-r they work fine though.

Any suggestions on how I can solve this??

I first thought I might try using a different copying program to nero, but recently I have been told that using different dvd-r media might help. I am all a bit confused by this and thought someone might be able to shine a bit of light on this.

    1) Did u burn the shrink output files(bups, ifos, and vobs ONLY) into the VIDEO_TS folder that Nero provides in DVD-Video burning mode? If you dragged a folder into the Nero VIDEO_TS folder, it won't autoplay on a DVD player. Start from scratch. Use start smart in nero....choose dvd-video...next, on the right....drag all the shrink output files (NOT the folder they are in) INTO the VIDEO_TS folder on the left. Burn.

    2) Nero may be yer problem if yer doing everything above correctly and it still doesn't work. Some people just can't get it to work properly on their systems.

    3) Media can be an issue also. Cheapo media has many issues associated with it. An inability to play on certain players is just one of them.

    4) Could be a format issue. If you are burning DVD+R's but your players aren't compatible, they won't play.

    Hope something here helps. =)

    Cheers

Just tried that and it seemed to work fine - the only slight problem is that is seems to struggle going from the menu to the film when u select play movie (its fine when you go to scene selection) and it always has a problem when going back to the menu from the film. Do u have any idea why this is?

But otherwise it worked fine thanks a lot gonna have a play with it now and try a few others and see how I get on!!

Glad I could help, Chris. I also have occasional issues with menus when I copy the entire disc. Some work perfectly, but others booger up completely and are un-viewable. No idea why this is, but I now avoid the problem by doing *movie only* backups. So far I've made no coasters using this method. I just tried a few *entire disc* backups to see if I can do it. Personally, I see no point in backing up entire discs since the main reason I backup to begin with is to allow my kids to watch DVD's in their rooms without worrying about them or their friends scratching up my originals.
