  1. Hi folks,
My first post here! Amazing forum....

Thinking about purchasing the Norcent 315 from Amazon based on reviews of their other models here. Have gone through 3 "major label" players already and am ready to try something cheap that will play more of my media as well as PAL dvd's.

Does anyone know anything about this model? I can't find spec's or anything....I know the 215 has great reviews and will try to just buy that one if the 315 is no good, but I don't know if the 315 is even shipping yet. Does anyone know Norcent's website address?

Also a warning...overheating DVD players is a huge problem, at least for me. I had mine a foot above my receiver on a separate shelf and burned through 2 of them in no time...they really should include fans in these things!

    TIA for any insight!

WELCOME to the forum. Your right, this place is amazing.
I read through it almost every day. I would post more often
but the questions get answered so quickly, and well, that my contributions
would be redundant. If the 315 is anything like the previous machines,
it should be a killer. I have a dp-300 that I affectionaltly refer to as my BAGEL player. Mp3,s on dvd - dvd on cd, picture slide shows, it does it all.
After SUFFERING through two high end (read fussy) dvd players, I decided to go cheap. What a pleasure. A buddy of mine has the 215 and
he has zero problems with it as well.
    Over heating:
Defintely a problem with dvd players. They need circulation and lots of it.
I used to leave multiple dvd cases on top of my player if I was having
a view fest. As the evening would progress, the dvd would start stuttering and stalling. Took me a while (dumbass that I can be) to realise that I was
overheating the machine. Stopped doing that and all has been well for a year.
The ONLY compaint I have is that MY unit cant handle long file names.
It is restricted to the old 8.3 format. The 215 is the same. MAYBE they
have changed in the 315. I will monitor this thread because I am interested to see the feedback on the 315
    Welcome again.
