  1. I have burned several movies which are excellent xvid quality watching on computer. But when I encode it with virtual dub and tmpgenc to output to a format my dvd player hooked to my t.v will support and play the audio in certain parts of the movies is jumpy or distorted. Anyone know a way to eliminate this small little clitch. It doesnt happen all the time with every movie but it is annoying when it do happen to a good movie.

What format are you using... VCD,SVCD,DVD?
What are you burning on... CD,DVD?
    Have you tried different media?
A little more information about your conversion method might help.

Edit, A lot more information would help.

  3. I always download a good xvid quality release sometimes with ac3 sound other times it is not ac3 sound.

The process I use to encode a movie for dvd playback is

Load the movie in virtual dub and rip the audio to a separate file.
if it is ac3 sound I then use a program called Headache

I then load Tmpgenc to encode the video

The format I use is SVCD, Iam burning on 700mb 80 min cdr's
Yes I have used plenty of different media so I figure it aint that.

Try Goldwave for audio processing to wav and make sure to resample to 44.1 KHz, like in this guide.

    Good luck.

That's called a synchronization problem (A/V sync), see the link below.

  7. I just looked at the link you have provided

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/142555.php

I use this version of virtual dub 1.5.9 build 18121

Under video in virtual dub I do see the option there to scan video stream for errors so I scanned the movioe file for errors it says 145473 frames masked (1568 frames bad, 143905 frames good but undecodable)

From that link what I dont understand is when the torurial says "Now open the log, it may have several bad blocks, so you need to delete the highest block numbers first (At keyframes)

    12345
    12346
    12347
    3345667
    3345668
    3345669 (Highest block of numbers)

Open Log and highlight the highest number (3345669) (COPY)switch to Vdub and select Edit> GO TO (Paste) 3345669"

Under options in virtual dub I see a option there "Show Log" but when I click on it I dont get a bad frame listing so I can delete them all I see is

Starting up: virtualdub build 18121 /release

AVI: opening file "d: and path to my movie file

I'am lost as how to fix this!

That version of Vdub does not create a log file. Click on the link in the guide and get Vdub-MP3!

in that link you provided it mentions Now open the log, it may have several bad blocks, so you need to delete the highest block numbers first (At keyframes)

    12345
    12346

What you do is mark the end of the block then the beginning of the block then delete everything in between. If you delete 145,000 bad frames you probably won 't have much left I'm afraid.

  13. Guys is there any other way I can fix this out of sync problem besides this route becuase I simply dont understand how to edit the log file to clean it up. Although it was explained to me ina earlier post but stiff dont get it

  14. you are going to have to get another copy of the film, 145 000 bad frames is roughly 90 mins (@ 25 fps). Which is a lot to cut out of a film and still be able to follow it
