Thinking about dumping dialup and go to broadband thru Insight. If i go thru Bestbuy, i will get a $60rebate towards a $60 modem plus the 1st month is $20 instead of the normal $39/mo. BUT one thing i saw was a statement that said NON-Insight customers will be charged $10 extra /mo. making it $49/mo. Has anyone heard that before with Insight? Also it says that additional computers are $6.95, whats that mean? Cause i'm planning on hooking up the PS2 and a laptop using a Dlink wiresless AP/switch. thanks

Though I don't have Insight, I want to comment anyway -- Years ago, when the local cable co. first rolled out broadband, they did something like that -- if you didn't have cable through them, they'd charge you extra, kind of a marketing gimmick. Lame, but what can you do.

That means if you want to hook additional computers directly to the Internet (giving each their own IP address), you have to pay for additional IP's. Save the $$ and just pay for 1 IP and connect everything else through the AP - I currently run 5 computers and my Xbox through 1 static IP assigned to my server computer, which is acting as my router

I got the Dlink di-514 which is a wireless AP/router/4 port switch. I plan to wire the main computer and PS2 then if i get a laptop down the road i can go wireless with that. Well if they try to charge me an extra $10 i'll go elsewhere.
