Has anyone managed to backup the Lion King yet. Tried it with my original copy last night and got great video but no sound. I used DVDShrink 2.3. Normally this works ok but not with this movie for some reason or other. Tried for main movie only backup and kept all the audio streams. I cant figure out where I went wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

    regards

    Noki,
    yes no audio at all.
I tried two other movies last night just to see if I had any other problems and both of them turned out fine. Tried Lion King again last night and same thing occurs. Great video but no sound. I've downloaded DVDshrink 3 and left it running today on automatic seetings to get a full disk backup with deep analysis so I'll see what happens tonight when I get in from work.

    Regards

Are you making the copy directly from the Disc? I've had problems doing that in past. I now use DVD Decrypter to make a backup Image to my Hard Drive then Mount the image file with Daemon Tools and then run DVDShrink over it.

I believe DVD Decrypter removes a lot of the encryption and Disney is notorious for going overboard with encryptyion.

PS: this auto link tool rocks...

  5. I agree use DVD Decrypter 1st then mount ISO with Daemon tools, then use DVDShrink. I was able to copy the movie following those procedures.

    Good luck!

Is there some advantage to using Daemon tools? I just use File mode with decrypter and then DVDShrink. Do you just prefer to burn an ISO instead of files- and if so, why?

Personal preference I guess. That's the way I started doing it. It works so I kept doing it that way. That and I think the files are easier to manage that way.

I have found if you delete the first audio track, but keep say #2, you get weird problems. You have to force your DVD Player to use a different audio track, because the first track is used by default and it's blank. This apllies to full and re-author mode. Settop and software player. The 'menu' thinks the 1st track is there, just 0 bytes, but still selects. This is particualry annoying if the DTS track is #1.

It's very annoying if you want the french/spanish audio only.

  9. With The Lion King and DVD Shrink the default setting for audio is DTS....now if you aint got DTS sound then you aint gonna get any audio......just change the audio option from your DVD player remote to DD and you'll be set.

Thanks for all the help guys. I tried backing up the full disk and shrinking it to fit on a DVD5. The video quality is good and all the sound is there. The menus all seem to work fine. I used DVDShrink3 this time instead of 2.3. I still cant understand why I get no sound in Movie only backup and it works fine with full disk but I'll try the advice you've given me and see if I can improve my backup.

    Many thanks
