  1. I know WMV is not really well thought of by enthusists, but just for the heck of it I was playing with some captures from windows movie maker and they were actually quite good. I am wondering if anyone ever tried capturing in WMV, editting and then converting them to mpeg2 for placement on DVD. The reason I ask is because the user interface is really easy to use and you can get things done really quick. I'm capturing from VHS so the quality is marginal at best.

    Just wondering what everyone's experience is with WMV.

  2. I would not go from WMV to mpeg-2. That's a compressed format to another compressed format. I don't mind using WMM at all, it works quite well for me sending video of the kids back home. But for caps that you want ending up mpeg, capture with as little compression as you can with something like virtualdub or virtualvcr, then convert.
