  1. I recieved a new Iomega Dual DVD drive this week. I have only been able to burn 4 dvds.

    I am currently running:

    Windows XP
    Nero 6.0.0.23
    Iomega Dual DVD Drive(with Herrie's latest)(Slave position)
    P4 2.0 GHz
    512 Ram

    Here's the problem:

I could not get my burner to burn any TDK 4x DVD+R. THe drive would not recognize a disk in the drive. However it did work on a Verbatim DVD+RW and a CD. After removing all other burning software I ran Norton WinDoctor(to clean registary) and reinstalled Norton. Then if I would insert the DVD+RW it would reconize it then I would insert a DVD+R and it would work fine (I would have to do this each time I burned). This was a minor inconvience but I was happy that the drive would burn. However even this stopped working and the drive fails to reconize the DVD+RW or +R. Also in all this time my friend who bought the same drive and DVDs. Both purchases at the same stores and same times. Was able to burn to the TDK DVD+R with no problem(he is NOT running Win XP). Has anybody else had this problem is this a hardware or software problem?

    Thanks for you help!

Might be a long shot, but you could try the drive in a master position. Check with your friend to see how his is configured. Some drives don't like the slave position. Other things to check would be whether DMA is enabled.

  3. I installed this exact drive this week.

Athlon 2200+, XP Home, 512MB RAM, Iomega drive as slave, existing dvd-rom as master.

I uninstalled InCD packet writing sw (from previous cdrw install), then installed the Iomega Hotburn sw. Firmware left alone.

Np problems burning Memorex +RW-media id INFODISCA01 or Compusa +R-media id OPTODISCOP1. Data discs burned fine using Hotburn. I also copied a video disc using dvdecrypter iso read/write.

Sounds like a hardware problem. I would exchange the drive for another.
