I wonder if anyone has noticed that some DVD's allow you to zoom and watch the whole movie and some don't. I have a JVC XVS 60 DVD player and on some widescreen DVD's when you activate zoom feature (in order to watch fullscreen) the zoom symbol doesn't disappear. On the other hand some discs have no issue with that. The zoom symbol disappears and you can watch the whole movie fullscreen. I wonder if this is one of the flavours of "user prohibitions "and whether there is a way around it while backing up a DVD (removing this prohibition while backing it up). I'm not the biggest fan of 16:9 on 4:3 screen and would prefer to be able to zoom whenever I want (without zoom control symbol in the corner of my TV throughout the whole movie, that's annoying).
Thanks.
