  1. hey just got a new dvd burner from best buy-a lite on.
    it claims to be a 4x for +/- dvdr's.
its working fine but is taking about 70mins to burn a dvdr movie.
my buddies all claim to be doing the same in about 15 minutes with their pioneer a106 which burns at the same speed. Is something wrong with my drive ? It sounds like its burning at 1x.

    my set up
    amd 1.1gig\gigabyte md
    1 gig sdram memory
    win2k w hdd ntfs
    Lite On Internal DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive
    Model: LDW-411S
using recordnow dx software to burn a 4.7 .img

  2. What media are you using? If you have -R it could be 1X to 4X if you are using +R it could be 2.4X to 4X

Check to be sure DMA is enabled on the IDE channel you have the DVD on in device manager.

to pio and the device manager froze up...ahhgh!

took out the drive, looked at the jumper, was set to slave, always thought default was master, set it to master, removed old cdr drive, re installed it, set to dma, burned dvdr in 25 minutes now, never used flash rom, rad...

thanks for the help and suggestions
btw the fuji 4x dvdr+ works perfect in my jvc and pioneer 6 disc dvd changer and my dell laptop.

90% of the time if there is an update to your firmware or a software package, you should DL and install.

Hey, that product you just bought might have sat in a warehouse for 3 to 6 months. The company's programmers have been tweaking the drivers or the ROM all that time and you decide, Well, it works good enough, I won't update.

Please do.Then you'll be answering questions here instead of asking them.

    Cheers,

And, as tompika says, maybe you are happy because you don't know any better. A 4X burn is in the 15 min neighborhood.

Just bought this burner and updated the firmware. It burns 4x +R in about 14 minutes, 2.4x in around 25 minutes
