  1. I recieved a DVD/CD jewel (called SUPER JEWEL BOX) case in the mail for FREE from AOL!!! It was a b*tch to remove the lables and stickers, but with un-du the stickers came right off. I found a site that sells these cases, and they sell for about $2 each. They have the advantage of a jewel case (image on front and behind of the case. I also once recieved a black DVD case, but they purposely make those stickers so sticky that if you try to remove them your self, they damage the plastic.

Has any one recieved any of these cases? Also does anyone have a template for Super Jewel Boxes? The website that sells it superjewelboxing.com only allows you to download it after you buy a case. I looks like a DVD case, but clear like a jewel case. The paper insert is all weird.

Really what is AOL thinking spending so much money on CD's and Cases that most people trash???

They sent me 2 CD's in nice metal boxes. Tossed the CD's, but the boxes are nice. AOL had me once, but never again.

I've gotten probably about a half dozen DVD style cases from AOL, and about 2 dozen of the metal boxes. I've taken the stickers off the DVD cases and reused them. It's not really easy to remove the stickers, but if you are using Un-Du (which is what I use) then it can be done. The cases I get have about 4/5 stickers on them, and it takes me about 5 minutes to get them all off, and wash off the residue. But when I'm done they look just as good as my store bought cases.

I don't know why AOL keeps sending me the CDs, because I haven't used them in about 4 years, and never will again. But as long as they keep sending them, I'll keep reusing the cases

I hate AOL...we used to have it back when I was a freshman in HS and it was the most terrible and expensive thing ever. Now, I also trash. But they probably have deals with the makers or something where they get a huge discount since they buy in such large quantities...and its not like they cant afford it either charging people almost 25 bucks a month.

When I was a frshman in HS, AOL was still a private network, and not part of the Web (or "Internet" as most people thik of). Back them, we re-used the floppies because they were good and floppies still cost quite a bit each. CD was still music-only and new technology for the most part.

  7. It's $14 something a month with Bring Your Own Service
I connect from my ISP with TCP/IP

Don't really use AOL for anything but email - which is the only good thing I can say about 'em. You pretty much get an unlimited amount of mailbox space...but only useful with other aol members.

Don't worry, with all the advertising they push on paying members and con their members into buying useless $500 travel membership garbage programs every time you need to call them about a problem, they have more than enough money to afford the CDs.

I got the same case your talking about for the v9.0

I think sadly they finaly caught on that the greater dvd burning population was requesting loads of free startup cd's inorder to just get the jewel cases! heck, almost 90% of my jewel cases for dvd's came from aol. a nice little goo-gone and those nasty stickers were gone!

but i know what you mean, i spent about 15 min and finaly decided to just give up on that funky cd case.

come on AOL, cant you go back to the dvd cases!

You can buy DVD cases at Walmart now! I couldn't believe it. I miss being in the minority, where people ooh'd and ahh'd over the fact that I could make DVD. Now they sell supplies at Walmart!

Not I, dont need DVD cases that bad. NOW back in floppy days I was on their mailing list like 8 times. I was sad when they switched to DVDs.
