trying to convert to SVCD PAL.
keeping aspect ratio with default wizard.

audio is in sync but video of mpg is jumping ahead every couple of seconds especially notice in fast movment.

Not sure if the subs are causing the problem, have you tried dvd2svcd?It allows you to input subs without frameserving,Always comes out smooth for me.

  4. I dont have TMPGENC right in front of me, but there is an option in TMPGENC that says something to the effect of "keep audio and video synced" (hopefully this will make another forum member remember the exact name) and that may be whats causing it to jump ahead. Basically, to keep the audio and video synced.

  5. probably the original movie.avi file is already «jumping»
the ntsc->pal conversion was made incorrectly
if the movie.avi file is in 25fps and is ok then the encode in tmpg (svcd-25fps) should be ok
    do the audio encode separatly

  6. the original avi is playing fine (both video+audio).
    it's a dvd rip.
when i load it in virtualdub the file info display it as 25fbs divx 5.05.
i'm using virtualdub to frameserv after adding subs (full processing mode).

    i think it's a framerate problem.

what are the best settings for PAL divx 25 fbs to svcd (mpg2),
    using tmpgenc.
i have the audio seperate as wav, so when encoding audio is in sync.
the video of mpg comes jerky.
i didn't has problem before with avi ntsc source.
i'm converting it as SVCD-PAL template in tmpgenc.
tried combination of field A/B with non-interlace (progressive).
    also checked do not framerate.
    all didn't help.
    video i still jerky.

please help !!! it seems no one on board seems to know the solution.

  7. all i can think of is using dvd2svcd with svcd template and see if that "fixes" the issue. It may help rule out human error.

you might be better off trying it again using the original dvd. when you converted the original dvd to an avi (i am guessing divx), did you do anything special to it? Was the dvd 25fps?

Have you tried frameserving without adding the subs to see if it makes a difference?
