HI
I am in need of encoding moivies in vbr 2pass. The problem is that I can't encode for more than 13 hohurs on my comp (p4 1,7 ghz) because the comp is in my dads room and he wont have the computer on while sleeping. So is there a way to encode the first half of the movie and then another day encode the 2nd part? I am using tmpgenc.

Yes it's possible. You can encode half the movie by changing the 'Source Range' choosing only the first half of the movie. Then encode on! =)

Using source range will create multiple MPGs. you'll have to merge/join them together when your done (unless you planned to spilt them on two sperarte CDRs anyway).

ok
Some dude told me that it can't be done with svcd vbr 2pass encoding. But I have tried it with xvcd and that worked, so there are no exeption with vbr 2pass mpeg2 encoding?. -
duh.. i use the source range all the time, its so simple. i cant understand where people come up with problems as simple as this, its almost like asking how to load a template in TMPGEnc

I know how to use source range, thank u very much
Just that a dude told me that source range can't be used with svcd. I tried it today and it worked. -

Why wouldn't it work with 2Pass? It's same as if you used the Source Range filter on Constant BitRate. When using the Source Range, selecting half the video, and encoding - it will check that half only of the video and allocate bits for high-action scenes, and less for still scenes. It's a minimal difference if you encoded half + half VS the entire movie with 2Pass. If you encoded the entire movie with 2Pass, then it will allocate your bits *a little tid* more effectively, but it has more video to work with.
