Hmm, I wanted to do a simulate burn to see if I needed to upgrade the firmware of my new DD0203, but I can't. I have firmware version 2.09. Can you not simulate with this drive or what's the deal?

    Thanks!

  2. You can with NTI CD/DVD Maker.

    BTW...upgrading the firmware won't help.

Yeah sorry, I just read that over and realized I left out an important detail. I'm using Nero 6, anyone able to simulate with this? In mine it's grayed out.

  4. Only DVD-R discs can be used for simulation purpose, not DVD+R discs. I think this was the reason why it was grayed out.

Ok, well another problem with this drive:

I tried doing a simulate burn for a cd and it seems my computer can't keep up with the burner. If I do a speed test in nero it says it can read my HD at 36X(it's a 7200RPM). However if I do a simulate burn the buffer underrun keeps kicking in. The "Used Read Buffer" in Nero stays at 100% but the buffer on the drive goes down to 0% than back up to 100% and keeps doing that.

This makes me think I can't transfer to the drive fast enuogh even though I can read the files off my harddrive fast enough. By the way this is an audio CD. I have the following configuration, IDE Primary(my two hard drives) the one I'm reading from is master. IDE Secondary is my DD0203. I can't really put the DD0203 on the same channel as the harddrive becuase I don't have long enough cables I mean if it comes to that I can always go buy an ide extension cable, but I didn't want to have to do that.

Is this the only way to fix it? Why would I be getting buffer underruns?

    Thanks!

P.S. Also, I'm not going to be able to burn DVD's at 4x, if I can't burn cd's at 24x, so I need help please!!!!

There is nothing wrong with your current IDE arrangement, and two possible reasons for your problem:

    1. DMA is not enabled.
    2. Your HD needs to be defragmented.
