  1. Hey gang-

Any chance there's a permanent fix for this 2x Copy Protection cap of ripping dvds in the 708A? I know of the "hold eject button for 3 seconds" trick, but it only works for that session; and it's a real pain in the ass to have to eject a dvd, put the drive back in empty, then re-eject the tray after holding the button every time I wanna rip a dvd...

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  2. C'mon, surely someone has gotten around this problem permanently? Or am I just stuck with a slow, shitty drive?

You are not stuck with a slow shitty drive. Be glad there is a way to rip dvd's with it beyond 2x at all. Most dvd writers cannot. I would recommend using a seperate dvd-rom drive for dvd rips so you do not prematuraly wear out the more expensive burner ripping dvd's.
