Dear Chris,
Now that there are LOG texts, I even read them. Occasionally.
Even though the resulting DVD may play excellently, the log content is usually rather disconcerting, which is worsened by the fact that some remarks are repeated umpteen times.
For instance:
"!!!: GOP is not closed on cell boundary (may not be seemless)" repeated nine times, followed by four times: "ADDING PRE COMMAND!" And that exactly the same for four MPGs of different lengths made at different times.
Well, whatever the reason, what interests me is: How can I prevent these warnings from appearing?
The Taiwanese makers of my PVR type card are of the close-mouthed type. They don't reveal much about the inner workings of drivers and software. Though that may well be because their command of English is rather poor.
TMPGEnc, on the other hand, has any number of options on various tabs.
Thus, under GOP structure, it has I=1, P=5 and B=2 resulting in IBBPBBPBBPBBPBBPBB as a default for (S)VCD which I have never changed. Should I?
There is an, in this context, tantalizing option "Output bitstream for editing (Closed GOP)", which I do not wish to use before asking. "Closed GOP" sounds great, but SVCD2DVD doesn't do much editing, does it?
Will you bring some light into my darkness?
Thanks in advance,
Callan

The Adding Pre command is there for me. it is more or a debug message than a warning.
the closed GOP msg referes to chapter points. i.e a chapter is been created "within" a GOP which is open. Basically this can lead to "glitches" in play back. A chapter is created for each mpg so this may arise where the mpgs ultimately join.
I am actually working on how this may be improved. So the join is more seemless.
Most of the warnings in the log file can be ignored. The log is vebrose so that i can get to the bottom of people's issues. As you may appreiciate no two mpgs are the same!!SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
