I have XP and when using a cd-rw/dvd+rw, DirectCD hangs forever, a technical problem roxio say. What alternatives are on offer if all I wanna do is use the disc just like a floppy, i.e. cut and paste write from it and not just be able to read it. All the programs I have tried so far u have to write them to disc which means they end up becoming read-only files and furthermore you have to finalise the disc or lose what you've added

  2. 8) It might sound a little silly, but have you checked their website for software updates?

yes I have checked the site for sofware updates there are none pertinent to XP, however there is something saying that DirectCD is not very user friendly with XP and they were having technical problems, so perhaps that's why. I have turned to InCD Nero and now it wont format with that either as it only formats with MRW Mt Rainer so that's no good either, unless I can find a driver that supports my DVD+RW Internal Combo drive.

If you have kept up with your Roxio upgrades....you MAY want to check for another Roxio or DirectCD folder in your program files. When I upgraded my XP Pro system....I found TWO versions of DirectCD on my computer. One works....and one does not.
The upgrade also removed something from my XP Pro based system because Roxio said it will not function correctly with XP(I had the Windows 98 version originally). Unfortunately I forgot which portion of the initial Easy CD Creator it removed.
I now have Easy CD Creator Platinum 5.3.4.21
