Ok, say I take a european dvd and rip the files from it. Will it play on my computer? I believe they are in pal format over there. Say I take the european buffy dvd's and rip the files from them. They would play on my moniter wouldnt they? And if not can I convert them so that they would? I live in the u.s if anyone needs to know to leave me an answer. Please respond to this.

On your computer, no problem (I've done this several times).
Converting to x(S)VCD is a little harder to say. I've takedn region4 PAL DVDs, ripped them, and just encoded w/ the NTSC VCD template and like 80% of the time everything works (no audio sync problems, great picture, etc).
About 20% of the time problems developMostly skipping in motion scences, audio out of sync, for some odd reason it stays as PAL so it's B&W and skipping, etc. etc.
