  1. What can I use to Rip the Audio from an AVI file to WAV ... Someone said CDEX but I can't figure out how to do it with that so if theres a tutorial around for doing what I need to do could someone please point me towards it. I'm converting AVI TO VCD but the VCD file has no audio after the encoding process. Audio is present in the AVI file so I want to rip the audio from that avi into a wav format and use that as the audio source code when I go back to encode the avi again.

Would it be better to rip directly to wave?

If you have an AVI file as the source, then the best approach is to use VirtualDUB to save the audio part in uncompressed WAV format.

If you start from a DVD, then the best approach is to rip the video and audio streams to a single VOB, and use VirtualDUB/MOD to open the file and again strip the audio part in uncompressed WAV format.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  6. Wouldn't using DVD2AVi be bes for ripping a wav from vob files? Besides, you have the options of choosing the audio track and either demuxing the ac3 or decoding it to wav. Also, it has decent surround downmix for the 5.1 acs to 2 channel wav.
