Exact Audio Copy can do this. Do note that sometimes on XP that Exact Audio Copy will crash with the Blue Screen Of Death. To avoid this, after installing EAC but BEFORE you run it for the first time, go to the directory
    Program Files\Exact Audio Copy
and put the file wnaspi32.dll there. Then you can safely run EAC without the BSOD. wnaspi32.dll can be downloaded for free from Nero (www.nero.com) and a few other sites - do a web search.

Note that some XP systems don't crash when running EAC without installing wnaspi32.dll first, but mine all did and it was the only thing that would stop the BSOD. Nobody seems to know why some boxes get the BSOD and others don't, so I just recommend installing wnaspi32.dll before running EAC the first time as EAC has never given me a BSOD after installing wnaspi32.dll.

the crashing is aspi related and it relates to some software and its relation to some hd IE nero and a cd burner not cdrom. they have different drivers. you can run a program alled aspi check to see if its up to date.. you can look for aspi instal kits to make it easy or a force aspi. if you have a cd/dvd burnng software loaded and a good cd/dvd burner then you most likely wont have an issue anyway.

OH and BTW WMP will rip to wav and its free and you already have it loaded. jsut go to rip and change the format.

dBPoweramp is also free and is quite good. You only have to pay if you want MP3 encoding option (decoding is free). Large selection of codecs to choose from. CD ripping, WAV, and MP3 come with the install, other codecs are downloadable from the same site.
