  1. I have a file that is in MPEG format. I want to burn it to an SVCD.
    I used G SPOT to check the file. It suggested that I render it. I clicked the render button. It checked the file and then said the file was
    MPEG2_VIDEO
    and the audio was MPEG2_AUDIO
    the video path was (S) --> MPEG-2 Splitter --> CyberLink Video/SP Decoder --> Overlay Mixer2 --> (R)
    the audio path was (S) --> MPEG-2 Splitter --> AC3 Prologic Decoder --> Morgan Stream Switcher --> (R)

    My question now is how do I convert this to SVCD? Is the file truly in MPEG-2 format now? Because when I check it in WIndows Explorer it says that it is in MPEG format. Perhaps I am simply misunderstanding it.
    Do I need to convert this to anything. How do I now make this into an SVCD

    Do I need any specific codecs for this?
    I am newbie when it ocmes to this. I truly appreciate any help that may be offered.
    Thank you.

    To make an SVCD, you need a source file (which you have), an encoder (like TMPGEnc, CCE, etc.) and an authoring program (like VCD Easy or Nero).

    Now, after you reac up in the Convert section, you find the guide to convert the source file to an SVCD MPEG-2 format video. Next put this video into your encoder and burn it to your disk.

  3. which guide should I use, there are so many.

    If is is already in MPEG-2, which I am assuming it is, do I just burn it like that? I tried it in NERO, but what is the best way to do it in NERO?
    I think I am doing it wrong.
    Do I need to convert anything?

  4. On the left under "what is" go to svcd. It will tell you the specifications for svcd. Load your mpeg into avicodec (available in the tools section) and see if the film meets svcd specs. If it does you can burn it straight away in nero. If not you will have to convert it.

    Whatever you do do not let Nero re-encode your file, it produces lousy quality. Encode with TMPGEnc and burn to disk only with nero. Like Laddydaddy says, check it with avicodec and you may be able to burn it as is.
