    Hi,

New to this forum, been lurking and posting at the capture forum for a few weeks.
Anyway, I have been capturing from vhs using VirtualDub. I am using the PICVideo MJPEG codec. The captured avi's look fine - no "shakiness". Then I fired up Studio 8 (can't capture with it, but that another story...) to convert the avi to mpeg2. The result was not too good. The video was "shaky". Am I experiencing something common to conversions or could Studio 8 be the culprit? In other words, is there some setting I could use in TMPEG to correct the "shakiness". I know it would be easier if I could more accurately describe the problem, but I just don't know the technical term. I'm running XP on a P4 2.4 Ghz w/ 512 RAM.
Oh yeah, one more question. Is there a setting to direct TMPEG to output the result in one file instead of two?
    Thanks for any replies.

Ok, I just answered part of my question myself. I figured out how to instruct TMPEG to output one file instead of two. Really wasn't that hard . I had only tried TMPEG by way of the wizard. It was much clearer once I shut it off.
My first question still stands though.
    Thanks

    Try changing the field order.

    Try changing the field order.
Ok, will do in TMPEG. I'll post the results in about 25 minutes.

Rhetorical question #1: Why isn't there a setting for "reverse field order" in Studio 8?
Rhetorical question #2: Why did I purchase Studio 8?

Well, it is better, but something still isn't right. It's just not as smooth as it should be. Any other suggestions?
BTW, how does one's field order get reversed in the first place?

Make sure the framerate is the same as the source.

I set it at 29.97. I think VirtualDub adjusted my framerate to 29.9706. That can't be the problem, can it?

No, they are too close to cause that problem.
    Hello.
