    Hi everyone
This is Cristian Gatti from Argentina.
I need someone to give me some hints to get the best result putting my VHSs into SVCD format.
The main goal here is NOT TO LOSE IMAGE OR AUDIO QUALITY. I don't care if I can only put 15 minutes of video in one single CDr.
    I do have a Pinnacle Studio DC10 Plus. I capture NTSC videos at: 608 * 464.
Then I open the profile "MPEG-2 Super VideoCD NTSC", and select the AVI file. From then on I have tried it everything, but I'm not sure about what's the best setting in order to have the best quality result.
Can anyone help me? Your help will be much appreciated

    Thanks everyone

    Cristian

  4. I would rather you not send the program as that would be illegal. But there are several things you need to consider first.

You say that you dont want to lose Video quality and yet you are capturing at LESS than full screen. YOu should do this at the lowest compression you can without dropping frames. The minute you enncode to anything less than around DVD format ie 5Mbits/sec average you will lose quality - it is a compromise as to size. I have seen in other messages that any encoder at a sufficiently high bit-rate will produce good quality - what distinguishes the encoders is their ability at lower rates.

So remember, capture high res;low compression (or none at all for best quality) and encode to high average bit rate on MPEG2 should give the best quality. I have also seen written that anything above 6Mbits/s is wasted on home capture setups but personally I havent tested this.

    Hope this helps

Hi and thanks so very much for your response
Regarding the capture, well, that's teh max resolution I can capture with my Studio DC10+, so I can't change that for now. Anyway, from that AVI, I want to get the best quality I can. I will try to see how can I do that. I'm new with this, and it's very hard for me to understand the whole process (you know, I don't even know what "bitrate" is, so it's almost impossible for me to put the settings of the LSX-MPEG Encoder 3.5 in the rigth place.
Thanks so much again for your answer
    Any other help?
    Thanks again

  8. Christian, by e-mail I'll send you my template for SVCD, it works really good for SVCD Compliant. This is using LSX 3.5.
