okay i ripped an old tennis match of vhs tape and it captured fine in win dvd recorder. i converted each set individually (5 sets) to dvd (video and audio_ts) in tmpgenc dvd author. Prob is it comes to over 9gbs. so i thought i could shrink it in dvd2one but it started and then 1/3 of the way through said the file was protected and couldnt be ripped. Can sometime tell me how i can join all these files and then convert them to fit on 1 dvd?? thanx heaps

Hi bono19. Do you still have the original file you captured? What format did you capture it in? Did you capture the match as one file or five? Do you know what bitrate the captured file(s) was encoded in? What size was the file(s) before you authored them?
If you have a program like ReMPEG or TMPGEnc, it would probably be worth using one of them to shrink the file(s) down in size.
With the former, you simply open the file and let the program scan it, then you tell it what % of the original size you want the output to be. You may need to demux the video and audio first for this approach, so if you give it a go, try it and see. With TMPGENc, you can use the project wizard to start a new DVD project, select the video/audio files to use and let it re-encode for you. Either way, you should end up with video and audio in seperate files that combined fit exactly onto one disc.
If you only have the vob files and not the original captured file(s), you can use something like SmartRipper to extract the video/audio tracks again, and then proceed with one of the above methods for example.
Lastly, if you have a bitrate calculator, you can use it to work out what bitrate you need to re-encode your file(s) in to shrink them down enough from knowing the length of the video and the free space on the disc. With that number, you can use any video conversion tool to re-encode at your calculated bitrate in CBR (or VBR with your calculated value as the average).
