Adding swedish subs to a us dvd possible?

1. I have a couple of us original dvd's. If i download swedish subs, is it then possible to add the sub to the dvd?

2. if it's possible to add subs, is the sub burned on to the movie, or can i choose it from the menues (maybe replace another sub) ?

By using "DVD" quick preset and by enabling "Decode with mplayer", you can burn a .sub or .srt subtitle in the video ("Load subs.." in the filters tab).

Let's say i want to do the same thing, but want my final source to be a svcd, should i still decode with mplayer?

Yes. The process is applicable to both DVD, SVCD and CVD.
