I have 40hm floor speakers and am building a home theat. syst from scratch. I also have satellite speakers that are 8ohm impedances. I just wonder if a 6ohm receiver vs. an 8ohm receiver will have less strain and heat since it is closer to 4ohm than the 8ohm receivers. Anybody have any input for me?
Thanks

You can use a 4ohm receiver on 8ohm speakers but not the other way around because you might fry your amplifier.I suggest buying a new crossover or new speakers.

Yes, just the receiver. I am using a really old one right now and it doesn't support dolby digital etc. That is why I want to get the receiver separetely and the speakers separetely.
Can't I do that?
