how to convert pal to ntsc when making svcd's

I have been successfully making svcd's from avi/mpeg for some time. I never paid attention whether the sources were pal or ntsc. Now I see that some tv episodes, etc. I have made are in pal format. I found out though that my apex dvd player does a pal to ntsc conversion. But on 16/9 material it squishes it a bit. Anyway how to convert a mpeg/avi pal source to ntsc before I make a svcd. I normally use DVD2SVCD and CCE for svcd's. There is an option in DVD2SVCD to do ntsc to pal conversion but not pal/ntsc. Sorry if this has been asked a million times. I have done some research and haven't found much. Thanks
