300 million Pepsi bottles will be part of the ad. 1 out of 3 or 100 million cans will have a code to receive a free song from the iTunes music store.

I've been playing around with it for a couple of hours now and I cannot see what the big deal is. The only things different about it is the iTunes Store and that sync with iPod thing (don't have an iPod so its of no use to me). Really not that much of a difference from WMP, MusicMatch, WinAmp, or any other media player than I was expecting.

EDIT: I have also noticed that I cannot raise the volume properly. It only uses that little slider at the top (which doesn't go that high up). If I want to raise the volume I have to click off the program and then I can properly raise the volume. Hope everyone can understand that.

  6. Ooooo. iTunes.

It's out. Tried it. It's pretty. It's good. It's by Apple. iTunes, it's pretty damn nifty. Yet, just don't know why I'm using it. Maybe I am falling for Apple's marketing ploy: to suck people into buying a damn expensive iPos, er iPod. Hmmm.

Or maybe you'll find you like its clearly above the rest playlist managment.
anyway I'm glad its out, but almost sad that its TO MUCH like the mac version... Playlist shareing works between the mac and PC!!! They could be onto our Apple secrets here on the company network!!

  8. OK I downloaded and installed I-Tunes for Windows. It works fine for songs I import into the library. But it does not play when I try to preview songs in the Store. I have a Broadband connection. Anyone else having this problem?

    Let me try real quick.

Works fine for me. I think everything is alittle backed up right now as half the internet tries the store out.

  10. It seems like I-tunes cannot make the connection to download the preview. But It can connect to the music store. Perhaps there is some setting somewhere but I've looked in the preferences both in I-tunes and Quicktime.

  11. Well I bought a tune but when I try to download it it says "File cannot be found, try again later by checking purchased music under the advanced tab." The program seems aware that I have bought the tune and is trying to dowload. So I think there is some problem with the Apple server side (which would also explain the problem getting the music previews.) I'll try again today after work.

Well previews work fine for me. I'll purchase a song and see if the download works.

Download appears to be working perfect. You have any type of software fire wall running by any chance? It might be a setting there hoseing you up.

  13. Well I use a Linksys router for my DSL connection, but that has never been a problem before in any other download situation.

I'm running Windows XP, but not with Service Pack 1, which I think I saw something about when I downloaded I-tunes, but the program installed fine and works otherwise.

I'll try stringing up my dial-up connection and see if I can get something that way.

Otherwise, I think I've just donated a dollar to the greater good of Apple.

I tunes is a huge ripoff. The artists only make between 8 and 14 cents per song downloaded. How does this alleviate things for illegal filesharing?

11 cents per song average. Times 12 songs is over a buck. That's about what they make from CD sales. Toni Braxton only got 32 cents per album with her last contact. SO how again is it a rip off??

OK. I've been messing around with it for a day now. I notice everytime I go to a folder that has songs in it, I highlight them all and drag them into iTunes, and suddenly the explorer window closes. I go back to the folder and notice iTunes has renamed the folder "Unkown Album". It does this every single time. Anybody know why it does that?

Does iTunes know the name of the song and the album? If not likely there are no readable tags by itunes so its not sure what its looking at. By default itunes renames and arranges you music for you unless you turn that feature off. Check if it can see what the song is, if it can't just right click goto into and fill in the tag info, that should fix it.

How do I turn that off? I don't mess around with the tags. I'd like it to just go by the file name. Since I got all my songs named Artist - Title.m4a. It does that but renames the folder the songs are in. Even if the name of the folder is the name of the album.

Its under Edit|Preferences. But unless you correct your tags your gonna hate itunes.

  20. Well I'm not the only one on Windows having trouble with I-tunes in accessing previews and dowloading files. Check out the new Windows I-tunes forum

    http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?13@192.oBzAa4VAibk.0@.599abd46

The official line is that there is some sort of problem with proxy servers or anything that I-tunes might think is a proxy server (such as a router). But I disabled my DSL connection and tried with dial-up and had the same problem. So I think there is a major bug in this first Windows version of I-tunes.

If anyone has solved this problem let me know.

  22. I found the problem. I had a version of Zero Freedom Firewall pre-loaded on my HP computer, which I had never installed. But its mere presence caused the problem. I removed it with add/remove programs and now Itunes works fine.
