Well, Roxio's Videopack 5 might have been worth a look if they included subtitle support, I get the feeling they don't know much about what's available for free.

The biggest joke is in the small print though: "Use of this product in any manner that complies with the MPEG-2 Standard for encoding video information for packaged media is expressly prohibited without a license under applicable patents in the MPEG-2 Patent Portfolio". I.e., you spend $500 and don't even get an MPEG2 licence. Unless I'm very much mistaken, it looks like you can be sued if you use Videopack 5 to create a DVD or SVCD! Wow, thanks...

I heard that TMPGEnc had some hassle with the MPOEG2 licence, which is why he had to put in the 30-day timer. Anyone know what the official position is on this?
