  1. Hey.
Ive done a search for avi to dvd and I keep getting results for Tmpgenc. It seems EVERYONE and their mom is using this program but I do not want to use this program because my trial has ended and i dont have money to pay for it right now. Are there any other programs that can do similar tasks? Freeware or something with a trial period. I want to put a few avis onto a couple dvds with something other than tmpgenc.
any sugestions from anyone who doesnt use tmpgenc?
    Thanx

Suggest you go to the Tools section at left and select "Video Encoder" for a list of encoders, which of course, TMPGEnc is. I see bbMPEG listed, and I heard some good things about it.
    Hello.

Switch to Linux. There are plenty of free ways to encode to DVD mpeg2 under Linux!

Sound advice as usual from TK. But I will mention BBMPEG is very slow.

Try Mainconcept standalone encoder v1.4. I believe there's a 30 day trial period on it. It's fast and does an exellent job.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

I think the Mainconcept encoder puts a watermark on the output file during the trial period.
The future is much like the present, only longer.

Gurus, I think he wants an MPEG-2 encoder without a thirty day trial period or watermarks until he can afford TMPGEnc.
    Hello.
