Hello,
I just bought a Philips DVDR80 recorder to replace my VCR. One of my main uses is to record radio broadcasts (many hours). I connect the audio output of my HiFi-set to the EXT2 SCART input, using the audio pins of the SCART connector. This worked fine for my VCR(s). But now I found out that my new Philips says "no signal" and refuses to record anything. The EXT2 input works fine for video recording.
Is there some way to tell the DVDR to record anyway. Do I need to provide an artificial video signal?
Any help is highly appreciated.

Hello Murray,
I thought so. It's a bit more complicated than 1 video signal.
I connected composite video signal first: didn't work.
I connected the composite video status signal: didn't work.
Now I use a brute force solution. I use a full SCART cable from my old VCR to the DVD recorder and connected the audio cable from the radio instead of the audio leads. That worked, but I want to remove the VCR, so I need a more sophisticated solution.
I hope for a good suggestion, like a loop-back connection.
I will search further and let you know.
Regards, Han
