i was just wondering if anybody could explain what macrovision on a dvd player was for

Well..Originally to stop you recording your DVD onto a VHS, the picture will be crappy. But now if youve got a DVD recorder it will stop you recording a DVD to a DVD-R ..UNLESS you have a macrovision disabled DVD player OR (as i have) a macrovison disabled scart lead.
