  1. QuickTime 6.4 seems to break MediaPipe mp2enc. There are no errors in the terminal output but the encoding is very rapid and the output .mp2 size is zero K.

I have another Mac OS X 10.2.8 partition with QuickTime 6.2 and there the encoding is OK so QT 6.4 seems to be the culprit.

    I've configured MediaPipe via MissingMpegTools0.9.1.

Is this a common problem or is there something in my setup?

  4. I heard that Mediapipe indeed won't encode mp2 with QT 6.4. However, the latest release of MMT (.9.3 (v 01)) can encode mp2 via its 'Internal' option (mp2enc is again bundled in MMT). Apparently QT 6.4 broke something in MediaPipe's QT pipe?

I've used MediaPipe because AFAIK it is still the only mpeg2enc variant that supports interlaced output. And besides, a new version of MediaPipe is in the works and I hope they can release it soon.

  5. Well, it seems that Quicktime 6.4 is breaking everything.. included Final Cut Pro 4. I had to revert to 6.3 or I could not use OfflineRT any longer.
But that's normal I guess... FCP 4 had a nice feature to make a new clip everytime it encountered a timecode break but the 4.01 and 4.02 updates broke this... the same way FCP 4.0 broke a 3.x feature that i took for granted. On FCP 4 if you revert a clip directiion and try to do ANYTHING WITH IT latter it just hangs or behave impoperlly. Bye bye transitions or a simple thing like drag the clip on the timeline to make it stop or start on another place... it changes the speed of the clip.

Sorry all. I know it's WAY off topic but i'm doing extra nights to have my work done since that sad day when i decided to update FCP 3.

  7. Thanks.

I'll give it a try... as soon as I end my current project!
I might be crazy but I'm not that crazy to change my software in the midle of a project.

If it works they just need to fix a few more things for me to be happy (like the reverse speed and the variable speed... argh! I just wish those could be used right now!!)

    Again thank you.
