  1. Hi i've been encoding avi's to dvd for some time now, but recently i downloaded a avi from the internet. I want it at its highest possible quality when i put it onto DVD. I use TMPGEnc to do this. But recently i heard that if a avi has a certain 'average video bitrate' for example 6000 kbits/sec there is no point in encoding it at 8000kbits/sec as the quality won't get any better once it's past the setting of 6000 kbits/sec. My question is though, how do I find the 'average video bitrate' of the avi?

thanks, any help would be brilliant.

  4. Just a thought.. Isn't that possible to check with Explorer? Just check the Properties of a DivXfile and choose Summarytab then Datavelocity (don't know if the english word is velocity). It can say 210.000 kB/sec, that would be the same as the bitrate of 2100 kpbs?

    I don't know...

You could also divide the file size in bits by the playing time in seconds.
